As we move towards a greener future, the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) has become increasingly popular. However, one of the challenges of owning an EV is ensuring that it is fully charged when needed. Luckily, the federal government has introduced a tax credit for electric vehicle chargers, which could make the process of owning and charging an EV easier and more affordable.

Things To Consider For Your EV Charging Station

OE Solar is here to help you will all your EV needs.

If you intend to park your EV while it’s charging, you will want the charging station to be no more than 12 to 15 feet from the connection port on your car, but this can vary depending on the make/model of your electric vehicle.

You will also want to consider what EV charger level will fit your charging speed needs. For best results, we recommend a Level 2 EV charger.

Level 1 & Level 2 EV chargers

There are different EV chargers levels, offering varying amounts of electricity, depending on your needs and current electrical panel system

Level 1 EV chargers

Level 1 chargers use 120-volt power and provide 2-5 miles of range per hour, making them suitable for short commutes or overnight charging

Level 2 EV Chargers

Level 2 chargers use 240-volt power and provide 6.2-7.6 kW to the vehicle, making them faster and better for larger batteries or frequent charging needs. Level 2 chargers can recharge an EV in a couple of hours, while Level 1 chargers take all day (and night)
